Options Autism are hiring a Housekeeper in Lochmaben!

Role: Housekeeper

Location: Maben House, Lochmaben

Salary: £19,500 per annum

Hours: Part Time, (30 hours per week - Monday to Friday, 6 hours per day, either 8 am to 2pm, or 8.30 am to 2.30 pm or 9 am to 3 pm)

Contract: Permanent

The Opportunity

We are looking for responsible, caring Housekeeper to join our fantastic team at Maben House, Lochmaben. As Housekeeper you will help support our occupants in their daily lives, ensuring our facilities are well prepared to keep them, comfortable and healthy.

This is a great opportunity to work as part of a team committed to helping individuals with varied and complex needs.

Our Housekeepers carry out an essential role to maintain the standards of cleanliness required by the pupils under our support. You will take pride in ensuring domestic duties including  planning, preparing, cooking and delivering a high standard of meal service with an understanding of nutritional and dietary requirements for young people

When it comes to looking after our occupants, we never settle for second best. We are looking for a Housekeeper who shares our vision to build incredible futures by empowering vulnerable young people in the UK, to be happy and to make their way in the world.

Previous experience in a similar setting would be great but isn’t essential as full training will be given, and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important. These roles are ideal for people working in customer facing industries including retail, hospitality, and leisure, looking for a new role that makes a real difference to individuals' lives and futures.

You will be quality focused, efficient, able to work at pace, and motivated to help us provide a safe, caring environment where everyone can thrive.

Core Responsibilities:

  • To prepare snacks, lunch and dinner for up to 25 people.
  • To manage the catering budget and do the food shopping.
  • To maintain the kitchen equipment.
  • To wash-up and clean the table and chairs to a high standard.
  • To keep the kitchen area clean in accordance with Cook Safe regulations.
  • To prepare the dining area e.g. setting up, serving points.
  • To clean designated areas of the establishment.
  • To operate cleaning apparatus such as hoovers, steam cleaners, washing machines, tumble dryers.
  • Full compliance with Health & Safety regulations at all times including Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
  • To collect and remove waste / rubbish from the work area to the collection point as directed.
  • To clean and regularly check cleaning apparatus and to report, in a timely manner, any issues / faults.

The Location

Maben House is purpose built with a separate education facility adjacent to the main house and is registered for up to ten occupants aged 8 to 16 plus on admission. Set in an idyllic location on the outskirts of Lochmaben, Maben House offers an excellent environment for an individual coming to terms with their life. Here social work and education staff combine as a professional team, where pupils' abilities are developed through a patient, individualistic approach that makes full use of existing skills and offers new experiences to widen and compliment their horizons.

We are based in Lochmaben and are within commutable distance of Dumfries, Lockerbie and surrounding towns and villages.

Options Autism is a national provider of specialist education, care and therapeutic services for individuals with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. We provide a person-centred approach to education and support, looking at the full needs of the individual and adapting our approach accordingly.
